Best Locations for Classy Engagement Photos Near Austin, TX
Determining the location for your engagement session will depend on the aesthetic and style you are wanting for your photos. It’s important to do a brainstorming session with your photographer prior to finalizing your location but here are a few places we highly recommend in or around the Austin area for beautiful and classy engagement photos.
Capitol Building Downtown Austin: Classy/Elegant
For those couples who value a classy or elegant style you may consider incorporating the Austin Capitol building into your shoot. It is absolutely free to shoot here once you pass a brief security screening to get indoor access. The law itself has so many stunning areas to shoot and once you get inside you will find the winding staircases inside and the pillars outside make for stunning and dramatic photo opportunities! For a dynamic and elegant photoshoot we cannot recommend this place enough for our couples!
Blanton’s Art Museum : Artistic/Classy
For couples looking for something a little non-traditional and artistic we highly recommend checking out the Blanton’s Art Museum near downtown Austin. This area is free to shoot outdoors though to shoot inside the museum does require a photo permit (unsure of permit cost). The area across the street is also a great and well kept area since it’s maintained for city and state employees. It’s always clean though the best times of day to avoid heavy foot traffic is during the early morning hours or early evening hours (golden hour). This area contains lots of state employee offices so when they are off work the area clears out a lot!
South Congress Street : Classy/ High Energy
Walking up and down South Congress street in Austin can be a great place for some high energy photos! This is usually a very heavily populated part of town so walking to the best places is ideal to avoid the heavier flow of people. This is a great place to get the iconic city skyline dip photo and honestly running in between street walkers while trying to beat the pedestrian crossing signs before they turn off can be a little dose of adrenaline to get the perfect shot! There are lots of cute little boutique vignettes to stop at along the way like Kendra Scott that give classy vibes all the way.
River Place Country Club : Classy/Elegant
Country clubs are always a fan favorite for beautiful and classy photos with lots of creative potential! River Place Country Club just so happens to be this gorgeous couples wedding venue so we had a unique opportunity to capture this place from various angles and we are in LOVE with the result! They even let us use golf carts to go to the best spots on the green for photos once the club closed the green to golfers! Fair warning though, high heels are a no go on the greens for these shoots so be sure to pack a cute pair of wedges for the green!
